Very photogenic llama poses for primetime (Video at bottom of article)

On Sunday, June 10, 2018, the crew of Optical Memories made our way to the Fort Chiswell Animal Park in Max Meadows, VA to test out some new camera equipment. With the new Sony A7III being used in conjunction with the Sigma MC-11 adapter to use with our existing Canon brand lenses we began messing with all the new menus and settings.

After a 30 minute bus ride around the grounds, watching animals being fed from the windows (along with many food cups getting stolen from visitors hands), I began to try out the new camera with some amateurish image test shots.

OM NOM NOM

After enjoying the ride and informative narration along the ride, along with making sure not to turn our back to the windows (you might find the ostrich inches from the back of your neck watching you), we made our way back towards the walk around viewing areas.

Feed me or you shall not pass!

When we departed the bus tour I immediately flipped over to video mode. The main reason for us getting this new equipment was for the video capabilities. Sometime was spent watching the animals and trying to video them doing something interesting. Messing around with getting the settings just right, working with the focus, and trying to compose decent shots all began to fall into place.

With this short adventure, some new skills learned in the field, along with new skills in Adobe Premiere Pro CC, we finally ended up with our first short cinematic production!
